As a first-generation college graduate, Yesenia Cervantes, turned a lifelong passion for education into a transformative career dedicated to empowering students and serving the community of Pasadena, Texas. Driven by a deep belief in the power of learning, Cervantes earned a Bachelor of Science Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Bilingual Education from the University of Houston–Clear Lake in 2010, followed by a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in 2018.
Cervantes began her teaching journey in Pasadena ISD as a middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. Specializing in Bilingual and Dual Language education, her dedication and leadership quickly led her to serve as a Dual Language Team Lead, where she championed language acquisition, cultural pride, and academic rigor for English language learners.
Building on her success in the classroom, Cervantes transitioned into the role of Instructional Specialist, coaching teachers and refining curriculum to elevate academic performance across grade levels. Today, she serves as the Founding Principal of RYSS Academy at Pasadena. In this leadership role, Cervantes is honored to continue serving the families of Pasadena—building a dynamic learning environment from the ground up where every student is empowered to Learn, Grow, and SUCCEED.
